about our program

Leah_B-artworkcrop_886x468.pngConnection with the arts and culture offers a beneficial impact on health and wellbeing and contributes to achieving health equity across communities. Arts in health programs humanise clinical environments by engaging people with meaningful artist-led experiences. These programs support the needs of consumers, carers and community for improved person-centred healthcare experiences.

The Arts and Culture Working Group for the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment was established in April 2022 comprising representatives from Ryde Hospital staff and the community, with the group informing the direction for arts integration at the new hospital.

Central to the Arts in Health Strategy is the curatorial vision of Togetherness and Unification

The themes of the Arts in Health Strategy celebrate:

  • Ryde Hospital's connection to Country, celebrating the healing and ceremonial qualities of the Blue Gum High Forest
  • The diverse, respectful and connected community of Ryde
  • The heritage legacy of Ryde Hospital and it's ongoing service to the community.

The Redevelopment team, in partnership with Northern Sydney Local Health District, are currently collaborating on the implementation phase of the Arts in Health Strategy for the redevelopment.
