Ryde Hospital Redevelopment launched "Adopt a Seedling" initiative to help preserve the Blue Gum High Forest

As part of the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment, the Blue Gum High Forest (BGHF) has undergone extensive restoration works to preserve its unique natural ecosystem.

A key part of this effort is returning the forest to its natural state, which includes replanting native species.Adopt-a-seeding-initiative-(2).png

To support these restoration efforts, the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment team has launched the "Adopt a Seedling" initiative, inviting staff, the hospital community, and nearby residents and businesses to help nurture native seedlings.

Participants are caring for a seedling over six months, helping it grow strong and healthy. Once matured, the seedlings will be replanted into the Blue Gum High Forest, where they will take root and thrive for generations to come.

This initiative aims to foster a sense of pride and ownership in the redevelopment project among key stakeholders. Seedling collection took place at Ryde Hospital on 29 April and 1 May 2025, with a community planting ceremony planned for late 2025. Approximately 200 native seedlings were distributed.

The initiative is one of several actions being taken by the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment team to protect and regenerate this precious ecosystem - supporting endangered species and preserving the forest as a vital part of the community’s natural heritage.
