Ryde hospital campus to be redeveloped

In late 2021, the existing Ryde Hospital campus was chosen as the location for the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment, with the site to be transformed into a state-of-the-art health facility.

In 2019, the NSW Government announced $479 million for the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment

An assessment of two potential sites - the existing hospital and the Macquarie University campus - showed that building the hospital on the existing campus was the most suitable location and was the result of extensive consultation with staff and the local community.

The redevelopment will provide additional and enhanced emergency, critical care, medicine and surgery, community and ambulatory care (outpatient) services. It will also make best use of the current services available at the Ryde campus, including the Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre and the historic Denistone House.

Staff and community provided key feedback into the site selection process via a survey and face-face drop-in sessions. Thorough analysis of the results was undertaken to ensure that this important feedback was properly considered in conjunction with master planning and technical studies undertaken by independent expert advisers.
